Stop DuPont Clinic is a project to stop the first at-will, third trimester abortion clinic in the history of California.

What is DuPont Clinic?

DuPont Clinic, PC is an abortion provider based in Washington, D.C.  As one of only a handful of extreme, late term abortion clinics in the United States, DuPont Clinic performs elective abortions through 31 weeks and 6 days and does not require a reason to terminate a viable fetus.

A fetus is considered viable (able to survive outside the womb) at around 24 weeks gestation. Termination of a viable fetus, except when necessary for the life and health of the mother, has been expressly prohibited in California statute for over 20 years. However, in January 2023, a new constitutional amendment ("Proposition 1") was added to the California Constitution, which states in part: 

"The state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom 

in their most intimate decisions, which includes their fundamental right to 

choose to have an abortion..."  

Last fall, exactly when Proposition 1 was about to pass, DuPont Clinic announced its plan to bring their "model of all-trimester abortion care" to the West Coast. Services listed on DuPont Clinic's website include elective third trimester abortions:

"If you are farther than 26 weeks into your pregnancy, we can still see you, 

regardless of your medical history, background, or fetal indications. We do 

not require any particular “reason” to be seen here – if you would like to 

terminate your pregnancy, we support you in that decision. " 

DuPont Clinic will end the lives of viable, unborn children and normalize "abortion on demand" irrespective of fetal development.
